Junior Political Committee

The Political Junior Committee (PJC) was established within SALMUN 2025 to introduce younger delegates to the world of international diplomacy while addressing contemporary political challenges. The PJC replicates the structure and functions of the United Nations Political Committees , allowing delegates to engage in realistic debates on pressing international issues. Composed of a big number of member state delegations, each holding one vote, it emphasizes debate, negotiation, and resolution writing under formal diplomatic procedures.
This year, the PJC will address the topic Managing Escalating Military Tensions in the Taiwan Strait Amid China’s “Strait Thunder” Operations. Delegates will face complex challenges such as balancing national sovereignty with regional stability, trying to ponder between conflicting interests, and preventing military escalation through diplomatic means. Essentially, the PJC encourages collaboration, creativity, and diplomacy as the foundation for future engagement in higher-level committees.
